Investing in Social Inclusion and Diversity

Vocational Education and training play a significant role in enhancing social inclusion by providing opportunities for inclusive skills development and improving employment prospects of individuals with fewer opportunities. Nevertheless,  existing structural inequalities and social challenges- such as aging, migration, unemployment,  increasing poverty, austerity and climate change often hinder the advancement of social inclusion. The European Vocational Training Association (EVTA) has been actively involved in social inclusion related issues through various projects and its advocacy work. In the past years, it has implemented several projects that aimed at creating inclusive and diverse learning environments as well as tackling the social exclusion in VET sector.

In the framework of its VIP-NET programme (Visibility, Policy engagement, Network Strengthening), EVTA is organizing a series of online events “ Coffee Breaks “–  aimed at exploring how education and training can contribute to the achievement of the 4 European Commission priorities included in the Erasmus + programme. These events have the objectives to raise awareness on the priorities, give visibility to best practices, and foster cooperation between VET providers and stakeholders, adopting a peer-to-peer perspective.

During the “Investing in Social and Diversity” event, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the framework established by the European Commission to promote social inclusion in education and training. The event will feature presentations from EVTA  and its members who will share best practices and projects related to inclusion, diversity and fairness. This will be followed by an interactive discussion session.

The event will be moderated by Joana Xhemali, EU Design and Project Manager at EVTA.
