PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The BASICC (Building Alternative Skills to Implement Creativities and Commons) project focuses on professionalizing the role of common space managers by developing training programs, tools, and methodologies tailored to their needs. Common spaces—often repurposed vacant buildings or underutilized areas—play an importal role in fostering social, economic, and cultural activities. However, their management remains an informal practice, often lacking structured training and recognition. BASICC aims to bridge this gap by equipping individuals with the necessary skills to effectively manage, animate, and sustain these spaces, ensuring they become long-term assets for their communities.
OBJECTIVES
Co-construct links between VET providers, economic actors and higher education institutions.
Support the vocational training capacities of the economic actors of the partnership.
Facilitate the appropriation of the issues of organization of vacant spaces by the training organizations.
Develop the skills of learners to occupy vacant spaces.
Organise European digital apprenticeships on the management of vacant spaces.
Transmit reflexive competences to the learners, through the organization of vacant places, so that they can be used in other professions of social action and community action.
RESULTS
New educational programs designed for common space managers, including university and vocational training courses.
A European Skills Camp, providing hands-on learning experiences in repurposed spaces.
A digital and narrative platform to enhance knowledge-sharing and digital participation.
Increased recognition of common space management as a professional field.
