PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Education dropout is still a considerable problem in Europe, with about 10% of youngsters leaving school or training. SCALE aims to use football to fight dropout in students/players aged 14-19.

The main aim of SCALE project is to lower school dropout of football players. In other words, we aim to target a relevant social issue such as school dropout through sport and, more specifically, football. The idea behind SCALE is that football, being the most played sport in Europe and in the partner countries, can be used as a tool to keep youngsters in education or training, thanks to the creation of “advantaged paths” based on sport participation.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Establishing shared paths with schools to facilitate schools achievements for young players.
  2. Sensitising football teams and schools on the need to work together to find effective ways to reduce school dropout.
  3. Instructing coaches on how to motivate and educate young players on the importance of school attendance and achievement, and more generally to be active citizens in the EU society.
  4. Changing formal institutional football policies, by including the need for football teams to address and take care of school achievements in players.
